Travel

For travel to and from Mount Kenya use Kenya Air, British Airways or Ethiopian from London, or KLM from Amsterdam, to Nairobi.  Transatlantic flights from the East Coast of the USA connect with all these services.  Expect to pay around £500 return from European destinations, $1300 return from the States.  From Nairobi local buses (matatus) ply the three hour road route regularly for less than £5, alternatively fly to Nanyuki airstrip - just 3kms from the house -  for £35.  There are also flights from the air strip to Masai Mara National Park.

We will be happy to make arrangements to meet you either from Nanyuki airstrip or the International Airport in Nairobi and transport you directly to Mount Kenya farm.

There are lightly cheaper flights with various Middle Eastern airlines via Dubai and other gulf cities.  As always shop around.

For local transport use the matatu, rent a car in Nanyuki or arrange a car or 4WD plus driver through Phoebe.  Alternatively, rent an African bike!

You will need to buy a tourist visa £35/$50 on arrival.  No medical preparations are necessary unless you plan visiting the lowlands in which case take a course of malaria medication and wear a condom.
