Booking

We welcome bookings from individuals, families and groups.  The only stipulation we make is that anyone who stays is environmentally friendly.  This means:

fostering the important relationship between the local people and visiting tourists

respecting the cautious use of local resources and the fragility of the Mount Kenya Forest and its flora and fauna

The house sleeps up to 14 (8 in bedrooms; three doubles; two bunks; one single/ 6 on futons; two doubles; two singles).   Bed linen is provided along with a full inventory of cooking utensils etc.  There are books, a television and a music system.  Please return all books and CDs that you use. The house is accessed by a rough track and is 2 km from the paved road.

Meals can be prepared for you at a small extra charge by Phoebe or Charles, who will also be pleased to advise you on car hire, local safaris, where to buy provisions etc etc.

The cost is £10 per person, per person per night, accommodation only. The house sleeps up to 14 people and there is an ample camping area for a larger group. Payment may be made by cheque (or cash) in sterling or dollars or Kenyan Shilling equivalents.  A 10% non refundable deposit is required one month in advance, please.  The booking fee is irrespective of the season. Although Christmas into February is officially high season, there is little climactic variation.  The "rains" occur in April but the showers though heavy are short-lived, and quite exciting. During rainy periods a 4WD vehicle is necessary for vehicular access.  it is still possible to walk to the farm (20 mins from the road).
